Strip the skulls, strip the mandalas, keep everything that matters. The Ultraflite Rizz Rizz is ICON's solid matte black take on the same helmet platform, every piece of protection and hardware intact, minus the paint show and minus part of the price. It costs less than the graphic Ultraflites for the simple reason that hand-painting art costs money and flat black doesn't. For riders who want the murdered-out look on a dark bike, or who just believe a helmet should disappear rather than perform, this is the pick of the whole family.

About That Name

ICON's product team had fun here. "RR" in helmet names traditionally hints at race replica. ICON flipped it: rizz is slang for effortless charisma, and their pitch is that this helmet doesn't need graphics to have it. Marketing joke aside, they're not wrong. A clean matte black full face helmet with a dark shield and the sharp Speedwing rear spoiler is one of the strongest looks in motorcycling, and it matches every bike ever painted and every piece of black ICON riding gear we stock. If you'd rather be seen than disappear, the Ultraflite Rizz Rizz in white is the same helmet flipped: cooler in the sun and spotted sooner in traffic.

What Riders Actually Say

Skip the brochure for a second. Aggregated buyer feedback on this helmet consistently praises three things: the ventilation, the light feel on the neck, and the internal drop-down sun shield, with the emergency cheek pad release earning mentions as a safety touch. The recurring criticism is wind noise at highway speed, which is worth knowing honestly: the Ultraflite ventilates aggressively, and airflow always costs some quiet. The removable chin curtain cuts a good part of it, and riders who wear earplugs on the highway, which every rider should, won't be bothered.

The Protection Package

The shell is hand-laid FRP composite fiberglass, the same construction as the $500-class helmets, chosen because fiberglass spreads impact energy efficiently at low weight. Inside it sits the MIPS system, a low-friction layer that lets the helmet rotate 10 to 15 millimeters around your head during an angled impact. Since real crashes almost always arrive at an angle, and the resulting head rotation is what drives many severe brain injuries, that sliding layer does real work in the worst moment.

Certifications: DOT FMVSS 218, Japan's PSC, and Europe's ECE 22.06, the current standard that tests rotational impacts in the lab. That "06" matters. Helmets carrying only the older 22.05 were certified before rotational testing existed. This one passed the modern exam.

Emergency release cheek pads finish the package, letting medics pull the interior and remove the helmet from an injured rider with minimal neck strain.

Shields and Sun

Two shields come in the box: a Dark Smoke fog-free Ultrashield for daytime attitude, and a clear Pinlock-prepared shield for night riding, with the anti-fog Pinlock insert sold separately. Both quick-change with side plates, seconds, no tools. Behind them sits the oversized DropShield Ultra internal sun visor with its external switch, easy to work with gloves. Per ICON, deploy the internal visor only when the main shield is fully closed. Dark shield down and sun visor stowed, this thing is pure stealth.

Airflow and Interior

Four intake vents, including the big motocross-style chin port, feed deep channels cut into the EPS liner and the recessed twin-channel Supervent system, then two exhaust ports pull the hot air out. That channeling is why the airflow reaches your scalp instead of stopping at the vent hole, and it's the feature summer riders end up loving most.

The Hydradry liner with Ax Suede contact points wicks sweat and removes completely for washing. A removable breath deflector handles cold-morning fog, and the chin curtain manages noise and under-chin wind.

Caring for the Matte Finish

Matte black looks fantastic and punishes lazy cleaning. ICON's own guidance for its flat finishes: soften dried bugs with a warm wet towel laid over the shell for five minutes, then lift the grime with gentle blotting using a microfiber cloth. Never scrub aggressively and never use harsh solvents or wax made for gloss paint, or you can permanently shine and ruin the flat finish. Two gentle minutes after a ride keeps it perfect for years. If you'd rather have a black you can wax and polish without worry, the Ultraflite Gloss Black is the same shell in a gloss coat.

Bluetooth Ready

The helmet is shaped for ICON's HelmLink Bluetooth system, sold separately with our other motorcycle intercom systems, with speaker pockets and mounting built into the interior architecture. Adding calls, music, navigation, and intercom later takes minutes and no cutting.

Fit and Sizing

Intermediate oval head shape, the most common fit. Measure your head circumference just above the eyebrows and ears, match it to ICON's chart, and expect an even, snug grip with no hot spots. Cheeks should move with the helmet when you rock the chin bar. Between sizes, take the smaller, since every liner relaxes with break-in.

Why is this cheaper than the other Ultraflite models?

Only the finish differs. The graphic versions carry hand-applied artwork and color-shift paint that add production cost. The Rizz Rizz is the identical helmet, shell, MIPS, shields, and all, in solid matte black.

What does Rizz Rizz actually mean?

It's ICON's wordplay. RR traditionally means race replica in helmet names; rizz is slang for natural charisma. Their point: this helmet doesn't need graphics to look good.

Is it ECE 22.06 certified?

Yes, along with DOT FMVSS 218 and PSC. That's the current European standard including rotational impact testing, not the retired 22.05.

Is it noisy?

It ventilates strongly, and strong airflow brings some wind noise at highway speed, which some owners mention. Fitting the chin curtain helps, and earplugs, recommended with any helmet on the highway, settle it completely.

Can I wax the matte finish to protect it?

No. Wax and polish are for gloss clearcoats and will leave permanent shiny patches on flat paint. Clean it with a warm damp towel soak, gentle blotting with microfiber, and mild soap only.

Does it take a Bluetooth headset?

Yes, it's pre-shaped for ICON's HelmLink system, sold separately, with dedicated speaker recesses.

How do I pick my size?

Measure around your head above the eyebrows and ears and use ICON's size chart. Choose the snugger option between two sizes, because the padding softens over the first weeks of use.
