Some riders want their helmet to disappear into the background. Others want it to look as sharp as the bike underneath it. The AGV K3 E2206 in the Compound Black Red graphic is built for the second kind. Sweeping red lines cut across a black shell in a design drawn straight from AGV's racing heritage, and underneath that graphic sits the exact same ECE 22.06 certified helmet that has made the K3 one of the most popular full face choices in its price range.
You get the complete K3 package here: the built-in drop-down sun visor that makes daily riding under strong sunlight genuinely easier, the Pinlock Max Vision anti-fog insert included in the box (that is what Mplk in the name stands for), the 190 degree Ultravision visor, and Italian design language that pairs perfectly with red and black sport bikes.
What You Get With the K3 Compound Black Red
- The Compound racing graphic: Red accents sweep from the chin bar across the shell and around the rear spoiler, following the helmet's aerodynamic lines. It matches naturally with red-and-black machines like a CBR, GSX-R, Ninja, or Ducati, and it photographs beautifully, a detail that matters more than anyone admits. The same Compound design also comes in a grey colorway if you want the graphic with a cooler palette.
- Built-in sun visor, engineered properly: The internal smoked visor drops with a slider you can operate with gloves on, and AGV designed it so that in its rest position it does not block the front ventilation. Small detail, real difference on a July afternoon. It also removes without tools for cleaning, and if the visor pivot mechanism ever wears out, it is a small replacement part rather than a new helmet.
- Pinlock Max Vision included: The anti-fog insert comes in the box at no extra cost, keeping the visor clear through humid coastal mornings and sudden temperature changes.
- ECE 22.06 certified: Tested by independent labs under the newest European standard, including the rotational impact tests that older helmets were never subjected to.
- HIR-TH shell in 3 sizes: The High Resistant Thermoplastic shell comes in three shell sizes with a 4-density EPS liner made in four sizes, so every head size gets a proportional fit rather than an oversized shell padded to fit.
- 190 degree Ultravision visor: Class-leading horizontal vision that lets you catch movement beside you sooner in traffic, the same field of view AGV puts on helmets costing twice as much.
- Collarbone-protection profile: The lower edge is shaped to soften contact with the collarbone in a fall, a racing-derived detail almost unique at this price.
- Dynamically weightless at 130 km/h: AGV shaped the shell and rear spoiler so that at cruising speed, airflow lifts the helmet enough that your neck stops registering its weight.
- Ready for real life: Eyewear Ready interior channels for glasses, preparation for a Bluetooth communication system, five front vents and two rear extractors, all adjustable with gloves.
Who This Helmet Suits Best
A strong match for: riders of red or black sport bikes who want the helmet to complete the look, daily commuters riding under strong sun who will use the internal visor constantly, new riders stepping into their first certified European brand, and anyone who wants sun visor convenience plus an included Pinlock without paying premium-class prices.
Look elsewhere if: minimum weight tops your list, the carbon-aramid AGV K6 S weighs roughly 300 grams less, you spend your weekends at track days (a race-focused helmet fits that life better), you ride trails and dunes (a dual-sport helmet with a peak is the right tool), or the graphic itself is not for you, the same K3 comes in a clean matt black with none of the red.
Keeping the Compound Graphic Looking New
Graphic helmets deserve one extra care habit: sunlight. Long-term exposure to direct sun is what slowly fades printed graphics, so store the helmet indoors or in its bag rather than leaving it on the bike between rides, especially in hot summer months. Beyond that, the routine is standard: wash the removable interior by hand with mild soap, clean both visors with water and a microfiber cloth only, never hang the helmet on a mirror, and replace it after any real impact even if it looks fine, because crushed EPS foam does not recover.

What does Mplk mean in the product name?
Mplk stands for Max Pinlock, meaning the Pinlock Max Vision anti-fog insert is included in the box rather than sold separately. It fits the main visor and prevents fogging in humid or cool conditions.
Will the red graphic fade over time?
The graphic is applied under the shell's protective clear layer, so it will not peel or scratch off in normal use. Like any printed finish, years of direct sun exposure can slowly dull it, which is why we recommend storing the helmet indoors between rides.
Does the sun visor block airflow when it is up?
No. AGV specifically designed the K3's internal sun visor so that in its rest position it does not obstruct the front ventilation, a detail many sun visor helmets get wrong.
Can I fit a Cardo or Sena intercom on this helmet?
Yes. The K3 is prepared for communication systems, with interior space around the cheek pads and neck roll that accommodates the popular Cardo and Sena units.
Is it comfortable with glasses?
Yes. The interior uses AGV's Eyewear Ready design with channels for glasses arms, and since the sun visor is built in, you will never need sunglasses inside the helmet.
How heavy is it really?
1,590 grams is AGV's official figure for the smallest shell, and independent testing measured around 1,600 grams in size M. On the move, the aerodynamic design reaches what AGV calls zero dynamic weight at 130 km/h, so it feels lighter at speed than the standing number suggests.
Which bikes does this colorway match best?
The black base with red accents pairs naturally with red-and-black machines, think CBR, GSX-R, Ninja, Ducati, or any dark sport bike with red details. It also works as a deliberate contrast piece on a plain black bike.
