Alpinestars spent sixty years protecting every part of a racer except the head, then took a full decade to close that gap properly. The Supertech R10 is the company's first road helmet, developed alongside MotoGP riders including Andrea Dovizioso, and it launched straight into the hardest category there is: an FIM-homologated race helmet you can legally and comfortably ride on the street. This Solid Carbon version wears the shell with nothing to hide, the raw 3K carbon weave visible under the clearcoat.

That shell is a four-layer composite: high-density 3K carbon on the outside, a uni-directional carbon layer beneath it, then aramid fiber, then fiberglass, each layer bonded with epoxy and each doing a different job when energy arrives. Under it sits an eight-piece multi-density EPS, mapped so every zone of your head meets foam tuned for that zone, and the liner surface carries a low-friction treatment that lets the head glide slightly inside the helmet during an angled impact instead of twisting with it. Four outer shell sizes pair with four inner shells, so every size is a real size.

The chin bar deserves its own sentence: its lower edge rises and hands its landing zone over to soft EPP foam extending beyond the shell under a flexible rubber trim, engineered so a chin bar strike meets padding instead of hard carbon at your collarbone, one of motorcycling's most commonly broken bones. Cheek pads pull out through an emergency release for medics. This is what a decade of development looks like up close.

Aerodynamics with a breakaway conscience

The shell shape came out of CFD work and wind tunnel hours, and three details carry it. Lateral winglets steady the helmet against crosswind and head-check buffeting. Turbulators moulded along the visor edge smooth the airflow's transition to cut aero-acoustic noise before it starts. And the rear spoiler mounts on a patented elastic-joint release borrowed from the S-M10 motocross visor: in an impact from any angle, the spoiler snaps away rather than gripping the ground and wrenching your neck. The Solid ships with the Standard spoiler; the more aggressive Race spoiler for maximum tuck stability is a separate part we can order in.

Vision built for the last braking marker

The eye port spans 220 degrees laterally and 57 vertically, with the shell's side line cut low so you keep peripheral vision even fully tucked. The shield is Optical Class 1 with anti-fog and anti-scratch coatings, closes onto a metal locking mechanism that stays shut through crashes and slipstreams, and pops off tool-free for swaps. Pins are fitted for a Pinlock 120XLT MaxVision lens and posts for tear-offs, both track-day currency.

Here is a first for our helmet pages: the sun problem ships solved. The Solid Carbon box includes both the clear shield and a dark smoke shield, so the daytime and nighttime setup exists the moment you unbox it. If you want to go further, Alpinestars makes a dark mirror silver shield we stock for harsh glare, and a photochromic shield that self-adjusts to light exists in the range too.

A-Head: the fit system nobody else has

Every other helmet fits you the way it left the factory. The R10's A-Head system puts an adjustable carrier under the crown pad that changes both the height your head sits at and the angle of the helmet on it. Riders on clip-ons tilt the eye port to match a tucked posture; upright riders raise it back. It's the difference between a helmet in your size and a helmet set up for your head, and it costs a few minutes with the supplied adjustment once.

Around it, the interior is anti-microbial wicking fabric, fully removable and washable, with eleven vents managing airflow: chin and chin bar intakes, a large-slider crown vent, and extractors under the spoiler pulling hot air out. There is even internal routing for a hydration tube, which reads like a racing detail until you're doing a July track day at Qiddiya or a long Eastern Province highway run and the water on your back becomes the best accessory you own. Closure is a race double D ring.

What does FIM homologation actually mean?

It is the certification world championship racing requires: a test protocol harsher than any road standard, including high-energy oblique impacts. A helmet on a MotoGP grid must carry it, and the R10 does, alongside ECE 22.06 and DOT.

What exactly comes in the Solid Carbon box?

The helmet, a clear shield, a dark smoke shield, the Standard spoiler, and a drawstring bag. The Race spoiler, Pinlock 120XLT lens, and tear-off films are sold separately for this trim, unlike some graphic versions that bundle a fuller race kit.

So how do I handle fog on humid mornings?

The shield carries anti-fog coating out of the box, and Pinlock pins are fitted, so adding the 120XLT lens later is a two-minute upgrade. Order it with the helmet if you ride at dawn near the coast.

What about the Saudi sun?

Solved in the box for once: the dark smoke shield is included, so day and night are covered from the first ride. For harsher glare there is the dark mirror silver shield we stock, and a photochromic shield exists in the R10 range.

Is a race helmet comfortable on the street?

More than you'd expect, and that's the R10's trick. The A-Head system adjusts the helmet's angle to an upright riding position, eleven vents flow serious air, and reviewers who tested it on the road kept the same conclusion: the aero stability that helps at the track calms highway wind fatigue too.

How does it compare to the AGV K6 S you also sell?

Different missions. The K6 S is the light road sport helmet at around 1,298 grams; the R10 is the FIM race flagship with the harder shell, breakaway aero, and A-Head fit, at 1,540 grams official. Commuters and tourers lean K6 S; track riders and sport riders who want championship-grade protection lean R10.

Why is a carbon helmet heavier than some non-race helmets?

Because FIM-grade construction adds material: the four-layer shell, eight EPS pieces, metal shield lock, and breakaway spoiler hardware all weigh something. Within FIM-homologated helmets, 1,540 grams is light.

Can I try it on before buying?

You should, more than with any other helmet we sell, because we'll also set the A-Head fit for you. Visit BoostBox in Al Khobar or Riyadh, or order with delivery across Saudi Arabia in 1 to 4 working days with Tabby and Tamara installments. The R10 in racing graphics is also on our shelf as the Supertech R10 Element, and the rest of our Alpinestars range is a click away.
