A full face helmet built from carbon and aramid fibre, pairing low weight with race level protection. It works equally well for daily riding and long highway trips, and comes here in the Slashcut graphic in black, grey and red.
1290 grams, and the number that's actually true
The helmet weighs 1290 g in the first shell size. That figure comes from AGV directly.
One detail most shops skip. Weight rises as the shell size goes up, so do not expect the same number if you wear XL. Any listing that quotes one weight for every size is giving you incomplete information.
Low weight is not a luxury spec. Two hours into a ride it is the difference between a comfortable neck and fatigue that pulls at your concentration exactly when you need it most.
AGV describes the K6 S as the lightest full face road helmet in the world.
Shell and protection
The shell is built in four sizes. Cheaper helmets use one shell padded out with extra foam for smaller sizes, which leaves them looking oversized on a smaller head. Here the helmet stays proportional whatever size you take.
The impact liner is 5-density EPS, also produced in four sizes, so different densities handle different impact energies.
The helmet is certified to ECE 22.06, the newest and most demanding European standard. AGV states that it exceeds the requirements of that standard by 36% under its own Extreme Safety test protocol.
The retention system is a Double D ring, the system racing uses because it gives an exact fit every time and does not loosen with wear.
The lower edge is shaped to reduce collarbone contact in a fall, and the cheek pads use an emergency release so a first responder can remove the helmet without moving your neck.
Ventilation and hot weather
The helmet has 5 front vents and one wide rear extractor. All are adjustable and sized to operate with gloves on.
In independent testing, riders have used it in temperatures between 35 and 38 degrees Celsius with good results.
Set expectations correctly though. No full face helmet keeps you cool while you sit stationary at a light in summer. Ventilation works when air is moving through it. The liner uses AGV's DrySpeed system for fast sweat absorption, and that is what makes the difference on long rides.
Visor and Pinlock
The visor is Optic Class 1, the highest rating available, meaning a view free of distortion to the same standard as prescription lenses.
Field of view is 190 degrees horizontal and 85 degrees vertical. The horizontal figure is close to human peripheral vision, so you see the car coming from the side earlier.
The mechanism is metal rather than plastic and opens through multiple positions. A micro-opening system cracks the visor for airflow while it stays locked to the chin bar, and the quick release lets you swap to a tinted visor by hand with no tools.
A Pinlock 120XLT MaxVision lens is included to stop the visor fogging from the inside.
What MPLK means. It is AGV's abbreviation for Max Pinlock, indicating the visor is prepared to take a Max Pinlock lens. Worth knowing before you buy a spare clear visor: AGV replacement visors carrying the MPLK code are sold Max Pinlock ready but without the lens. The lens comes with the helmet.
Noise
We would rather be straight with you here.
Owner opinion on noise is genuinely divided. Some rate it among the quietest helmets they have worn, others find it loud at speed even with the vents shut. That spread is normal, because perceived noise changes with your bike, whether you run a screen, your height and your riding position.
Practical advice: wear earplugs with any helmet regardless of reputation. It protects your hearing long term and makes the debate irrelevant.
