Our sun shows no mercy. From open midday roads to track days in peak summer, direct glare strains the eyes and steals focus exactly when you need it most. This version of the Pista GP RR was born for those conditions: a mirrored iridium visor mounted over a pure carbon shell, giving you the MotoGP champions' helmet with a mirror face that breaks the harshness of light and hides your eyes behind it.
AGV is an Italian company that has built winners' helmets since 1947, and the Pista GP RR is its top model, matching what is worn in the world championship. Everything on this page is documented from the company itself.
The iridium visor: a shield against glare
The mirrored layer on the visor works like race-grade sunglasses: it breaks direct sun glare and the hard reflections off asphalt, so your eyes relax and your vision stays steady in the directions light attacks from. From the outside it's a full mirror, giving you presence and privacy; nobody sees your eyes while you see everything.
Under the mirror layer sits the racing Ultravision visor itself: 5 mm of thickness that makes it part of the protective armor against stones and flying debris, optic class 1 certification with zero visual distortion, a panoramic 190° horizontal and 85° vertical field of view, and tear-off readiness. The visor swap system works without tools, so a clear visor for night riding goes on in under a minute, or a gold iridium replacement visor if you want a different color signature.
A 100% carbon shell
The shell is Extreme Carbon, pure carbon fiber with no fiberglass, at a weight starting from around 1,450 grams in the first shell size. It's produced in four separate shell sizes so the helmet stays proportional to your head whatever your size, and every detail follows AGV's internal Extreme Safety protocol, tougher than the legal requirements. For the same protocol pushed to the highest tier AGV builds, the Italia Carbonio Forgiato is worth a look.
The exposed carbon weave under the gloss coat completes the identity: dark metallic from the body, colored mirror from the face. Prefer the exposed weave with no color treatment on the visor? The Pista GP RR Carbon Glossy carries the same shell with a classic clear visor.
Three certifications together
- FIM: the international motorcycling federation's homologation, required for world championship racing including MotoGP, with additional testing against dangerous head rotation.
- ECE 22.06: the current European road standard, which the helmet exceeds by a wide margin.
- DOT: the US certification.
The practical result: a helmet that's road legal across Arab countries and most of the world, and qualified at the same time for any official race.
Built in the wind tunnel
The air vents are winged metal alloy pieces that catch air and drive it inside, the wedge chin guard splits the air in a tucked position, and the channels carved into the top of the shell accelerate its flow. The rear PRO Spoiler holds the helmet steady at high speed and breaks away instantly in a crash so it cannot catch on the road or track surface.
Inside: a personal fit that stays dry
The 360° Adaptive Fit system lets you choose the thickness of the crown pad, the cheek pads and the neck area separately, so you wear a size cut to your own skull. The Microsense fabric is soft and stays planted on the skin, sweat absorption is instant to keep your head dry on the hottest days, and the whole liner removes for washing. The helmet is prepared with routing for a drinking tube for long track days under the sun.
The cheek pads carry an emergency release system for medical staff, and the chin strap is the Double D system required in all racing.
How to protect the mirror coating
The iridium coating sits on the outer surface of the visor, and correct care keeps it mirror-perfect for years:
- Never wipe the visor dry; dry dust scratches the mirror layer. Flood it with water first.
- Use a clean microfiber cloth, water and mild soap only, with light strokes and no pressure.
- Keep chemical cleaners, sanitizers and anything containing ammonia away from it; they damage the coating.
- For bug residue, cover the spot with a wet tissue for a few minutes until it softens, then rinse it off. Never scrub.
- Store the helmet in its bag away from dust and direct sunlight.

Is the iridium visor comfortable in strong sun?
That's its core job. The mirrored layer breaks direct glare and asphalt reflections the way high-grade sunglasses do, reducing eye strain on long daytime rides and keeping your focus steady.
Can I ride with it at night?
The mirrored visor is designed for daytime and track use, and some countries restrict it at night on public roads. For night riding, fit a clear AGV visor. The tool-free swap system changes it in under a minute.
Is this helmet for the road or the track?
Both. ECE 22.06 makes it road legal across Arab countries and most of the world, DOT covers the United States, and FIM qualifies it for official racing up to world championship level.
Is it suitable for hot climates?
Yes. The mirrored visor softens the sun on your eyes, the metal vents drive air inside while moving, the liner absorbs sweat instantly and washes completely, and the drinking tube routing is ready. Ventilation in any full face helmet reaches full strength once you're moving.
Does the mirror coating scratch easily?
The coating is durable but hates dry wiping and chemicals. Follow the care section on this page: plenty of water, microfiber, mild soap, no pressure, and the visor stays mirror-perfect.
What is the 360 degree Adaptive Fit system?
It lets you choose the thickness of each interior section independently: crown, cheeks and neck, giving you a personally tailored fit.
How do I verify my helmet is original?
Through AGV's official portal at genuine.agv.com, the ECE homologation label stitched on the chin strap, and the serial number inside the shell.
