Very few helmets on sale anywhere carry FIM homologation, the certification the International Motorcycling Federation requires before a helmet is allowed on a MotoGP grid. The KRE+ S is one of them. This is MT's flagship, the same helmet platform Pedro Acosta wore while winning his Moto3 and Moto2 world championships, and the version in stores is the same one the factory riders get. The Solid A11 finish leaves the shell bare under gloss lacquer, so the carbon weave you're paying for is the design.
The shell is the whole story
The KRE+ S shell is 100% carbon fiber in what MT calls snake carbon, an interlocked weave pattern engineered to spread impact energy across the structure rather than through it. You can see the pattern in the lacquer. Under the shell sits multi-density EPS foam, layered so different zones absorb different impact speeds. It comes in three shell sizes, so a size S buyer gets a genuinely smaller, lighter helmet instead of a padded large one.
The certification list reads like a race scrutineering sheet: FIM homologation in sizes XS through L, plus ECE 22.06 and DOT across the full range. FIM rules also explain a detail you'll notice on the chin bar: a visor lock with a release button, required so the visor cannot fly open in a crash. Closure is a double-D ring, the only system permitted on track.
Two visors in the box
The KRE+ S arrives with the dark smoke visor fitted, the one in the photos, and a clear visor alongside it, with a Pinlock MaxVision anti-fog insert included rather than sold separately. The MT-V-29B visor gives a wider field of view horizontally and vertically, opens with the MT-FSOS+ quick mechanism, and is prepared for tear-offs if you ride track days.
Between the smoke visor for Saudi daylight and the clear one for night rides, the helmet covers the full day out of the box, and an iridium blue MT-V-29B is available if you want a mirrored option for bright track sessions.
Ventilation designed in a wind tunnel, not a meeting room
MT developed the AFCS ventilation layout using fluid dynamics analysis: a chin intake, top shell intakes, and a rear spoiler with twin extractors that pull hot, humid air out as speed builds. The spoiler also settles the helmet aerodynamically at highway speeds, which matters as much on a Saudi highway as on a circuit straight.
Race features that serve the road
The cheek pads have an emergency release system so responders can remove the helmet safely after an accident. The interior is hypoallergenic, fully removable and washable. And despite the racing focus, the helmet is prepared for a universal Bluetooth intercom, because a race helmet you commute in still needs navigation.
Weight is around 1,700 grams in size M, typical for FIM-rated helmets, whose reinforced structure carries a little more material than road-only carbon lids.
If your budget lives closer to the street, the MT Braker SV offers a SHARP 5-star rated alternative at a fraction of the price; the KRE+ S exists for riders who want the actual race product.

Who Is This Helmet For?
Track day riders and racers who need FIM paper to enter events. Sportbike owners who want the lightest, stiffest protection tier and the carbon look that comes with it. Riders stepping up from mid-range helmets who'd rather buy the actual competition product than a road helmet dressed as one, and who have already worked through the rest of MT's range to get here.
If you mainly commute and tour, the Braker SV or the retro Jarama SV will serve you for far less; the KRE+ S is the one you buy because good enough isn't the goal.

What is FIM homologation and why does it matter?
FIM is the International Motorcycling Federation, the body governing MotoGP and world championship racing. FIM homologation means the helmet passed the most demanding impact testing in motorcycling and is legal for international competition. Very few helmets on the market carry it.
Is the KRE+ S road legal or track only?
Fully road legal. It carries ECE 22.06 and DOT certification for the street, with FIM homologation on top for competition use.
Do all sizes have FIM homologation?
FIM covers sizes XS to L. XL and above carry ECE 22.06 and DOT. This is defined by the FIM testing protocol, not by the helmet's build quality.
What comes in the box?
The helmet with the dark smoke visor fitted, a clear visor, and a Pinlock MaxVision anti-fog insert. The visor is also prepared for tear-offs.
Can I install a Bluetooth intercom on a race helmet like this?
Yes. The KRE+ S is prepared for universal Bluetooth communication systems.
Why does it weigh more than some cheaper carbon helmets?
FIM-rated structures use more reinforcement than road-only carbon shells. Around 1,700 g in size M is normal for this certification level, and the three shell sizes keep smaller sizes proportionally lighter.
