The Braker SV is MT's sport touring full face helmet, and it comes with something rare at this price: a 5-star safety rating from SHARP, the UK government helmet testing programme. It is also certified to ECE 22.06, the current European standard, which tests helmets harder and at more impact points than the old 22.05 rule. In plain words, this is a budget helmet that performs like a far more expensive one where it matters most.

MT is a Spanish brand that has been building helmets for over 55 years, and their lids have been worn at MotoGP level. That experience shows in the Braker SV. The shell is made from HIRP, a high impact resistant polymer, and it comes in two shell sizes with three EPS liner sizes. So a rider with a small head gets a properly proportioned helmet, not a big shell padded out with foam.

Clear vision, day and night

The main visor is MT's V-28B, with a wide opening and an anti-scratch coating. It is Pinlock ready and accepts the Pinlock DKS435 Max Vision insert, so fogging on cold mornings is a solved problem. Swapping the visor takes seconds thanks to the MT-QVSS quick release system, and you do it without tools, whether you are fitting a spare or a mirrored silver MT-V-28B.

Under the main visor sits a drop-down sun visor. You operate it with a slider on the side of the shell, one hand, even in gloves. It covers your full field of view, so there is no annoying bright strip at the bottom of your vision like on some cheaper helmets. When the sun drops, slide it back up and carry on. No need to stop and change visors or carry sunglasses.

Stays cool, stays quiet enough

Ventilation comes from three intakes at the front plus a rear spoiler that pulls warm air out of the helmet as you ride. Channels inside the EPS move air across your head. For city traffic in hot weather this matters more than any spec sheet number, and the Braker SV moves a noticeable amount of air with the vents open.

Comfort you can wash

The interior is hypoallergenic, breathable, and fully removable. After a long summer of riding, pull it out, wash it, and the helmet smells new again. The micrometric buckle closes with a ratchet, so you get the same snug fit every time and can undo it with gloves on.

Ready for your intercom

The shell has a built-in recess for a standard UCS intercom unit. If you run a Bluetooth headset, it mounts clean without wedging speakers awkwardly against your ears.
