Most budget helmets ask you to take their safety on trust. The Stinger 2 doesn't need to: it has a public crash-test record. In September 2025 the UK's SHARP programme struck it 32 times at different points of the shell and gave it the full five stars, the same score carried by flagship helmets from brands whose logo alone costs more than this whole helmet. For a rider in the Gulf shopping on a working budget, that record changes the question from "is it safe enough?" to "why pay more?"

Built for heat first

Saudi riding is a ventilation problem before it is anything else, and this is where the Stinger 2 earns its keep. Four intakes across the brow and chin push air into channels moulded through the EPS, and two rear exhausts pull the heat out behind you. At city speeds you feel the difference at the first traffic light; on the highway the airflow stays steady rather than whistling. The HIRP shell over a multi-density EPS liner keeps the whole thing at roughly 1,600 grams, light enough that a long summer commute doesn't turn into a neck workout.

Certified to the current standard, not the old one

The Stinger 2 carries ECE 22.06, the current European rule that adds rotational impact testing and tougher visor requirements. Many helmets in this price range still sit on the older 22.05 approval. If you're weighing this against something like the Scorpion EXO-391, that certification line is worth checking before the price line. The same goes for the Premier Typhoon, which competes on Italian styling at a similar spend.

A visor you'll swap, not replace the helmet for

The MT-V-28B visor is anti-scratch, sits firm against wind pressure, and clips off by hand in seconds through the MT-QVSS quick-release. It's ready for a Pinlock Max Vision insert and also accepts MT's own Fog-Off sheet, so when the visor eventually picks up scratches, a new visor costs a fraction of a new helmet. A nose deflector is fitted from the factory, which keeps your breath off the visor and blocks wind rushing up the chin bar.

Everyday details

The lining is hypoallergenic, unclips in full for washing, and dries quickly. The micrometric double-tooth buckle gives the same tension every ride and opens with a gloved hand. Sizes run XS to XXL, and this gloss black Solid A11 finish is the clean, no-graphics option; if you'd rather the helmet make a statement, the Stinger 2 Tron graphic sits on the identical shell.

What you don't get is an internal sun visor. If that's a must for you, the natural step up in MT's range is the MT Thunder 4 SV, the first helmet to pass ECE 22.06 with a sun visor built in. For everyone else, the Stinger 2 keeps the money in the shell where the crash test happens.

Who Is This Helmet For?

Riders who want proof instead of promises, and would rather point to a published test score than a brand name. Commuters in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam heat who care more about airflow than graphics. Anyone kitting out a first bike properly without waiting for a bigger budget. Browse the rest of our full face helmets if you want to compare it against the field; on protection per riyal, this is where the comparison usually ends.

What is the SHARP rating of the MT Stinger 2?

SHARP, the UK government helmet testing programme, gave the Stinger 2 the maximum 5-star rating after testing it in September 2025. It is currently the most affordable helmet with a 5-star SHARP score.

Is the MT Stinger 2 ECE 22.06 certified?

Yes. It's certified to ECE 22.06, the current European standard, which includes rotational impact testing that the older 22.05 standard didn't require.

Does the Stinger 2 have a sun visor?

No, this model has no internal sun visor. If you need one, the MT Braker SV offers it with the same SHARP 5-star rating for a slightly higher price.

Is the visor Pinlock ready?

Yes. The MT-V-28B visor is 100% Max Vision Pinlock ready and also compatible with MT's Fog-Off anti-fog sheet. Both are sold separately, and a nose deflector is already fitted to reduce fogging.

Can I change the visor without tools?

Yes. The MT-QVSS quick change system releases the visor in seconds by hand.

How much does the MT Stinger 2 weigh?

Around 1,600 grams, in line with full face helmets in its class.
