Look closely at this shell and you'll notice it tells a story. The Luminence graphic prints "Since 1968" across the side, the year MT Helmets started building lids in Spain, and works the names of the helmet's own systems into the design, from the QVSS visor swap to the HIRP shell material. Racing red and blue over gloss white, finished with thin gold pinstripes. It's the loudest version of the Thunder 4 SV, and it wears its history on the outside.

Underneath the paint sits the helmet that changed its price class: the first full face helmet with an internal sun visor to pass ECE 22.06, the toughest safety standard on the road, with DOT approval next to it. Same shell, same protection, same hardware as every Thunder 4 SV. Only this one refuses to go unnoticed.

Why do riders pick the graphic version?

Two reasons, and only one of them is style. Yes, the red, white and blue sits perfectly next to sport bikes in the same colors, and the gloss finish gives the graphic real depth in sunlight. But a bright multi-color shell is also simply easier to see. In city traffic, movement plus contrasting colors is what catches a driver's eye, and this design was built as contrast from every angle, backed by reflective fabric at the rear for night riding.

And the graphic isn't a sticker kit. It's applied under the gloss clear coat, so it won't peel at the edges, bubble in the heat, or rub off where your gloves touch the shell.

Care tip: Warm water, mild soap, soft cloth. That's the whole routine. Avoid petrol, thinners and rough sponges, which dull the clear coat that protects the graphic.

The protection under the paint

The shell is HIRP, a high impact resistant polymer, made in two outer shell sizes so every head size gets a proportional fit. A multi-density EPS liner spreads impact energy, the 2.2 mm anti-scratch visor locks shut in a crash and swaps in seconds with the QVSS system, and a Pinlock 100% Max Vision insert clips in for fog-free winter mornings.

The internal smoked sun visor drops with a switch for afternoon glare, MT-AFCS vents keep air moving through the shell, and the ERS emergency release lets medics remove the cheek pads safely. In the box, MT also includes a fabric helmet bag and a foam support base, so the painted shell has somewhere safe to rest at home.

Intercom ready, clean install

A built-in housing shaped for UCS universal intercoms plus speaker recesses means a Sena or Cardo mounts flush. No adhesive brackets stuck over a graphic you paid for.

Who the Luminence is for

Sport bike riders whose machine already wears red, blue or white, weekend group riders who'd rather be spotted than blend in, and anyone who finds the solid colors a bit too quiet.

If you want the identical helmet with none of the noise, the matt black version is the quietest option on the same shell.

And if you like the light colour of the Luminence but not the graphics, the gloss white keeps the visibility without the artwork.
