The Scorpion EXO-491 Solid in gloss black is the full face helmet to buy when you want proper certification and a built-in sun visor without paying for carbon. It replaced the popular EXO-490, carries the current ECE 22.06 rating, and comes with a retractable anti-fog sun visor, a washable liner, speaker pockets and a quick-release buckle. It's made in three shell sizes and runs from XXS to 3XL, so it fits riders that many helmets don't.

Why the EXO-491 Works for Daily Riding in Saudi Arabia
Sun without swapping visors. Slide the lever on the left and the SpeedView visor drops down. Both sides are anti-fog coated, so it works on humid mornings as well as bright afternoons. For a rider who commutes at 7 am and comes home at 5 pm, this one feature pays for the helmet.
Heat. Three vents on top, a two-step vent on the chin and exhausts at the back keep air moving through the liner. The KwikWick C fabric pulls sweat off your skin and you can take the whole liner out and wash it after a hot week.
Real certification at this price. ECE 22.06 is the same standard the EXO-1500 and the EXO-R1 carry. It includes rotational impact and higher-speed tests that the older 22.05 did not. A budget helmet doesn't mean a lower standard here.
A shell that fits your head, not a generic one. Scorpion builds the EXO-491 in three shell sizes and eight head sizes from XXS to 3XL. Riders with larger heads who normally struggle to find a full face that doesn't look oversized will find one here.
Glasses and quick stops. KwikFit cheek pads have cut channels so glasses slide in without pressure. The One Touch buckle opens with a single pull, so fuel and water stops are quick even with gloves on.

Fog protection. The visor is Pinlock MaxVision ready and the breath deflector is in the box. The Pinlock lens itself is sold separately, which is worth adding if you ride the coast in winter.
What to expect on noise. This is a polycarbonate helmet at an entry price, and it's louder at highway speed than the carbon EXO-1500. Around town and on the daily commute it's fine; on long highway runs, wear earplugs.
Gloss black. The solid gloss finish suits any bike and is easy to clean. It also shows scratches more than matt, so treat it kindly, or pick the EXO-491 in matt black if you'd rather hide them.
Who This Helmet Is For
If you're buying your first full face helmet, the EXO-491 gives you the safety rating, the sun visor and the fit options you need without spending on features you won't use yet. If you can live without the sun visor, the Scorpion EXO-391 costs even less with the same certification.
If you commute daily in the city and want a helmet that handles sun and heat with nothing extra to buy, this is the one.
If you need a helmet for a pillion, or a spare for a friend who rides with you, the EXO-491 is the sensible choice at this price, and a Sena 5S dual pack puts an intercom in both helmets.
If you're deciding between this and the EXO-1500 Carbon: the EXO-1500 is lighter, quieter, comes with a Pinlock and a smoke visor, and has the AirFit pump. After your order ships, you will receive a tracking number so you can follow your shipment until delivery.
You can cancel your order at any time before shipping at no charge. Special pre-order / reservation orders cannot be cancelled.
You may request a product return within 3 days of delivery, or an exchange within 7 days of delivery.
Return & exchange conditions
The product must be in its original unused condition, with the original invoice, original packaging, and all accessories included.
Returns or exchanges are not accepted if the product has been opened or its packaging tampered with, shows signs of use, damage, or improper storage, or if any accessories or parts of the original packaging are missing.
Excluded products
Some products cannot be returned or exchanged, such as: used products including footwear, clothing, and spare parts; electrical/electronic parts and batteries; personal protective clothing and gear after use or after removing accessories; and technical spare parts after installation or use.
Electronic products and batteries must be inspected within 48 hours of delivery.
Fees
When returning a resalable product, up to 25% of its value may be deducted.
For showroom purchases paid by bank card (Visa or Mastercard), if a return is requested more than 24 hours after purchase, an electronic payment processing fee of 2.5% applies.
How to return
You can request a return shipping label from customer service for SAR 30, or ship the product at your own expense.
Manufacturing defects & shipping errors
If the product has a confirmed manufacturing defect, or if a shipping error was made on our side, we will cover all related costs and provide a full refund including shipping fees.
Processing & refunds
Return and exchange requests are processed within two business days. After approval, the refund is issued the same day and may appear in your account within 1 to 7 business days depending on your bank.

Is a budget helmet like the EXO-491 safe?
Yes. It's certified to ECE 22.06, the current European standard, which is the same rating Scorpion's carbon helmets carry. The price difference comes from shell material and comfort features, not from the safety test it passed.
What's the difference between the EXO-491 and the EXO-490?
The EXO-491 replaced the EXO-490 with updated ventilation, the Ellip-Tec ratchet visor system, a refined interior and ECE 22.06 certification. The sun visor and washable liner carry over.
What do I give up compared to the EXO-1500?
Weight, noise and box contents. The EXO-1500 Carbon is lighter and quieter, includes a Pinlock and a smoke visor, and has the AirFit inflatable cheek pads. The EXO-491 has none of those but keeps the sun visor, the certification and the speaker pockets.
Is a Pinlock lens included?
No. The visor is Pinlock MaxVision ready and the breath deflector is included, but the Pinlock lens is sold separately. You'll find it in our helmet accessories.
Can I wear prescription glasses under the EXO-491?
Yes, and without the usual pressure behind the ears. Scorpion cuts channels into the KwikFit cheek pads so the arms of your glasses slide into the padding instead of being squeezed against your temples.
Will a Bluetooth headset fit inside a helmet at this price?
Yes. Scorpion moulds speaker pockets into the EPS of the EXO-491 just like on its premium models, so Sena, Cardo and EXO-COM speakers sit flat over your ears and the control unit mounts on the left side.
