Why Riders in Saudi Arabia Choose the Matt Black EXO-491
The finish. Gloss paint reflects the sun straight into your mirrors and your riding partner's eyes. Matt black doesn't. It also hides the fine scratches a daily helmet collects from keys, bags and tank bags, so it still looks clean after a year of commuting. If you'd rather have the shine anyway, the same helmet comes as the EXO-491 in gloss black.
Bright light, no visor swap. The SpeedView sun visor lives inside the shell and drops with the slider on the left. It's anti-fog on both sides, so it's usable at 6 am in Jeddah humidity, not just at noon in Riyadh.
Hot air out, cool air in. Three top intakes feed air across your scalp, the chin vent has two positions, and the rear exhausts pull warm air out. After a hot week, the KwikWick C liner comes out and goes in the wash.
Certified like the expensive ones. ECE 22.06 is the rating on Scorpion's carbon race helmets like the EXO-R1 Carbon too. The EXO-491 passed the same rotational and high-speed tests. What you save on is shell material and comfort extras, not safety.
Sizes most helmets don't offer. Three shell sizes and eight head sizes, XXS to 3XL. If you've ever been told "we don't have your size" in a shop, this is the helmet that has it.
Glasses, gloves and quick stops. KwikFit channels in the cheek pads let glasses slide in. The One Touch buckle opens with one pull, even in thick gloves at a fuel stop.

Fog. The visor takes a Pinlock MaxVision lens and the breath deflector is included. The lens is sold separately; add it if you ride coastal winters.
Noise. At this price the EXO-491 is a polycarbonate helmet, and it's louder on the highway than the carbon EXO-1500. In the city it's fine. On long highway runs, use earplugs.
Who This Helmet Is For
New riders who want a certified helmet with a sun visor and don't want to overspend on their first one. If the sun visor isn't a must, the Scorpion EXO-391 is the cheaper way in with the same rating.
Daily commuters who ride in the sun every day and want a finish that doesn't reflect it.
Riders with larger or smaller heads who need the XXS to 3XL range.
Anyone buying a spare or pillion helmet that still meets ECE 22.06. Pair two of them with a Cardo Spirit HD Duo and you both ride connected.
Compared to the EXO-1500 Carbon, you give up weight, quietness, the AirFit pump and the Pinlock and smoke visor in the box. You keep the sun visor, the washable liner, the speaker pockets and the certification. For city riding, that's the right trade.

You may request a product return within 3 days of delivery, or an exchange within 7 days of delivery.
Return & exchange conditions
The product must be in its original unused condition, with the original invoice, original packaging, and all accessories included.
Returns or exchanges are not accepted if the product has been opened or its packaging tampered with, shows signs of use, damage, or improper storage, or if any accessories or parts of the original packaging are missing.
Excluded products
Some products cannot be returned or exchanged, such as: used products including footwear, clothing, and spare parts; electrical/electronic parts and batteries; personal protective clothing and gear after use or after removing accessories; and technical spare parts after installation or use.
Electronic products and batteries must be inspected within 48 hours of delivery.
Fees
When returning a resalable product, up to 25% of its value may be deducted.
For showroom purchases paid by bank card (Visa or Mastercard), if a return is requested more than 24 hours after purchase, an electronic payment processing fee of 2.5% applies.
How to return
You can request a return shipping label from customer service for SAR 30, or ship the product at your own expense.
Manufacturing defects & shipping errors
If the product has a confirmed manufacturing defect, or if a shipping error was made on our side, we will cover all related costs and provide a full refund including shipping fees.
Processing & refunds
Return and exchange requests are processed within two business days. After approval, the refund is issued the same day and may appear in your account within 1 to 7 business days depending on your bank.

Matt black or gloss black, which is better for daily use?
Matt hides scratches and doesn't reflect the sun, but it can show fingerprints and needs gentle cleaning. Gloss is easier to wipe clean but shows every scratch. For a daily commuter helmet in Saudi sun, most riders choose matt.
How do I clean a matt helmet without making it shiny?
Use a soft microfiber cloth and mild soapy water only. Never use polish, wax or solvents; they leave glossy patches on matt paint that can't be removed.
Is the EXO-491 safe for highway speeds?
Yes. ECE 22.06 testing includes higher-speed and rotational impacts. The helmet will be louder than a carbon touring helmet at highway speed, but the protection standard is the same.
Does it come with a Pinlock?
No. The visor is Pinlock MaxVision ready and the breath deflector is included. The Pinlock lens is sold separately in our helmet accessories.
Can I install a Bluetooth headset?
Yes. Speaker pockets are built into the EPS and the side of the shell has room for a Sena, Cardo or EXO-COM control unit.
